Boone heating and cooling questions

Who runs this site?

The Boone Iowa HVAC Guide is run by Iowa Trades. We're not an HVAC contractor. We pass your request to a local HVAC company, and they call you.

Who calls me back?

A local HVAC company we pass your request to. We don't do the work, and you decide whether to hire them.

Are calls answered at night?

Yes. Calls to (515) 349-7229 are answered 24/7 by an AI receptionist. That doesn't mean a repair visit any hour. Timing depends on the local company.

Are calls recorded?

Calls may be recorded. The receptionist says so at the start of each call.

What if I smell gas, a CO alarm goes off, or something is sparking?

Leave the house first. For gas, call your gas utility or 911. For a CO alarm, call 911. For sparking or a burning smell, call 911. Don't flip switches or use the phone inside.

How often should I service my furnace and AC?

Once a year for each is common: the furnace in fall and the AC in spring. Change the filter every one to three months.

Do you work on all brands?

We don't do the work. Ask the company about your brand when you talk with them.

How much does a repair or new system cost?

It depends on the house and the equipment, so we don't list prices. Ask for a written quote with the model and warranty.

Are there rebates?

In Boone, Alliant Energy supplies gas and electricity, so ask your installer about Alliant's Instant Discounts, taken off qualifying furnaces, heat pumps, mini-splits and heat pump water heaters at purchase through 2026. Rural homes may get power from Midland Power Cooperative, which lists rebates for air-source heat pumps, including ones with gas backup, and for heat pump check-ups. Check the current page before you buy.

Which towns does this guide cover?

Boone and nearby Boone County towns, including Ogden, Madrid, Luther and Boxholm.
